At least, 13 persons have lost their lives in two separate accidents that happened along the Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa highway in Moro Local Government area of Kwara state. The accidents were said to be have occured in the early hours of Thursday.
The accident involved two 18-seater hiace buses that were enroute Lagos and Sokoto states with 11 passengers losing their lives in the first bus and 2 passengers in the second bus while 8 persons sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Information gathered by HarmonyTimes revealed that the vehicle coming from Lagos rammed into a stationary heavy duty truck while the second bus veered off the road on its way from the north while the driver was trying to manoeuvre his way due to impact of the earlier accident.
The Kwara State Sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Gbenga Owoade, on his part while addressing newsmen attributed the road crashes to carelessness on the part of the two drivers.
The Sector Commander admonished drivers to avoid night journeys, overloading and the consumption of alcohol alongside other intoxicating substances while driving. He noted that the Federal Road Safety Corps had recorded 136 deaths along Jebba road between January to September.225
