Amidst rising cases of corona virus in the state, the Kwara State Government has announced 18th January, 2021 as the resumption date for second term academic session for all Primary and Secondary Schools in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Yakub Aliagan. According to the the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Kemi Adeosun during the Education Stakeholders meeting held at the Ministry’s Headquarters on Thursday, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved 18th January, 2021 as the official commencement date of 2020/2021 second term academic session in the state.
She however emphasized that safety guidelines of Covid-19 should be strictly adhered to in all schools in the state.
“Nobody should enter the school premises without a facemask. Any school that does not comply with NCDC and Federal Ministry of Education guidelines will face appropriate sanctions” she said.
The Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers, Chief Olu Adewara,who spoke on behalf of stakeholders, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for being proactive in decision making, especially on educational development in the state. He assured that they will abide by the rules and regulations of Covid-19.24
