APC CONGRESS: Factions Ready to Participate, Call for Peaceful Congresses

The Samari Led and Bolarinwa led Kwara APC factions have reinstated their commitment to participate in the coming Party Congresses in the state.

This was revealed at a Press Conference called by the Alhaji Abdullahi Samari led Faction in Ilorin on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Press Conference, Abdullahi Samari, Chairman of APC Caretaker Committee in the state, called on members to conduct themselves peacefully during the congresses.

It will be recalled that following the crisis among the leaders, the party has broken into two factions with one headed by the State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq loyalist, while the other group consists of members loyal to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Samari, while welcoming members of the Ward Congress Committee from the National Secretariat of the party led by its chairman, Alhaji Shuaib Umar, said that the Ward Congress of the party would hold in the state.

He said, “In line with Articles 11:A subsection (1 – x 111) and Article 16 (1) of the Party Constitution (as amended) the All Progressives Congress in Kwara will be organizing its congresses across the 16 local government areas as directed by the Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the Party under the leadership of Alh. Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe State.”

“It is pertinent to let members know that the ward congress slated for 31st July 2021 will be held in Kwara State with strict compliance with the Congress Guideline that will be made available to all the party members through the state and local government party secretariat.”

He added that the guideline would be strictly enforced to ensure fair participation by all members who can vote and be voted for.

Also, the Chairman of the APC faction loyal to the minister, Bashir Bolarinwa, said his group would participate peacefully in the congresses.
