Bill to establish Tertiary Health Institution in Kwara gets Senate Consideration

The clamour by the Northern part of Kwara state requesting for government presence in their region got a boost as the upper Legislative arm of the National Assembly, Senate, on Wednesday considered the bill to establish the Federal Orthopaedic Hospital, Kwara State.

The Proposed tertiary health facility when approved and established is expected to be sited in Lafiagi, the headquarter of Edu Local Government.

The Bill, that was identified as Federal Orthopaedic Hospital Lafiagi, Kwara state (Establishment) Bill 2021 was read for the First time at the floor of the Nigerian Senate by the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan.

The sponsor of the bill and the Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Pharmacist Sadiq Umar had previously decried the level of development in the Senatorial District.

Lafiagi Town, the proposed host of the Federal Hospital is already having the Kwara State College of Education Technical in its domain and the BUA Lafiagi Sugar Company, LASUCO.
