Black Tuesday: Again, Road Crash Claims 10 lives in Kwara

An auto crash on the Ilorin-Jebba Expressway which occurred on Sallah Day had reportedly claimed the lives of 10 people according to the Federal Road Safety Corps.

The fatal crash, involving an 18-seater commercial Hiace Bus with registration number LND 742XK, occurred at Iyemoja junction along Olooru-Oko Olowo Area of the Ilorin-Jebba Expressway in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The crash, which was reportedly caused by overspeeding, occurred at about 4.00pm.

The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the incident, said that other victims of the crash suffered varying degrees of fracture injuries.

He noted that the survivors of the Auto crash were taken to Ayo hospital, Oko Olowo and the state General Hospital, Ilorin for medical attention while the corpses of the 10 victims were deposited at the morgue of General Hospital, Ilorin.

The FRSC boss commended the officers of the Nigeria Police Force for their assistance which was rendered during the unfortunate incident.

In a similar unfortunate event, 10 lives were lost on Saturday (July 17) along the Ilorin-Jebba road- an accident that claimed the life of the Vice President of Offa Descendants Union, Minna Branch.
