The Federal Government has received Covid-19 vaccines from Russia.

Having announced a ”breakthrough” vaccine in August, the Russia Ambassador to Nigeria Alexey Shebarshin, has delivered samples of the vaccine to Osagie Ehanire, minister of health, at his office in Abuja on Friday.

This was disclosed in a statement released by Olujimi Oyetomi, Director of Media and Public Relations at the Ministry.

In the statement, the Honorable Minister of Health said the samples will be subjected to evaluation by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the Nigeria Institute of Pharmaceutical Research.

The President of Russia, Vladimir Puttin had claimed that the vaccine was administered on his daughter and affirm its potency.

On the other hand, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu, director general of the World Health Organization has warned against ”vaccine nationalism”
