Barring any last minute change, the Kwara state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has concluded plans to appoint caretaker heads for the sixteen local council in the state, a move that has been described by the Supreme court in times past as Ultra vires.
Before now, reports were rife that the Governor had directed members of his close circles to nominate individuals from the ward level that will be considered for appointment as members of the caretaker committee for each local Government, a development that had further polarised the party with leaders of the party at different level engaged in hot brawls and exchange of words with press releases flying all over the social media.
The TIC as can be understood is expected to be given an initial 6 months period that is to be renewed.
It was also gathered that the governor gave in to the suggestion of having a caretaker committee for the local councils because of two major reasons, the growing popularity of the opposition party in the state vis a vis the wranglings in the ruling party which is likely going to result into victory for the Peoples Democratic Party at the polls if conducted as at now. According to the top ranking party stalwart, the governor was also favorably disposed towards setting up TICs because it will be a veritable means of assuaging aggrieved party leaders in the state.432
