A member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable Saheed Popoola has asserted that the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is behind the chaos happening within the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the state.
Popoola said this during a radio programme on Radio Nigeria, Harmony FM in Idofian, on Tuesday.
Recall that some supporters of Governor Abdulrazaq held a press conference at Kwara Hotel in Ilorin, on Monday, to pass a vote of confidence on the state governor and in the course of their meeting, they were said to condemned the party caretaker chairman, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa and also castigated some party heavyweights.
While reacting to this, Popoola said there are different types of elders and any elderly people or stakeholders in the party are at prerogative to come together and pass a vote of confidence on anyone they like.
However, the former Kwara State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development stated that the antecedent of these people who claimed to be supporters of the Kwara State Governor is not unknown in the state.
“The antecedent of those elders who formed the gathering on Monday is known to all. These are the same set of people that caused destruction for the People Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State during the 8th Assembly. They determined to demolish the then PDP.
“Though I was a member of APC. Everyone knows Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, Baba Rex Adewoye, and Honourable Raheem Alajagusi led the struggle not only by going on air but they also put their lives at risk when most of these people were at home with their families.
“The stock-in-trade of these acclaimed elders is to destroy the good works of elders like Akogun since the time they were both together as members of PDP.
“It is only an ingrate in this present administration that would criticize the likes of Akogun,” Popoola said.
He viewed the actions of the supporters of Governor Abdulrazaq as an act of policking and described it as a distraction to the state governor.
“Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is behind the crisis within the party, and it is absurd for anyone to start politicking at this point in time,” he added.248
