Omu-Aran Farmer-herders crisis: Police reimburse extorted farmer

Men of the Nigeria Police Force in Omu-Aran Local Government Area of Kwara State have paid a sum of N350,000 (Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) back to a farmer, name withheld, which he was illegal forced to pay after some herdsmen accused him of poisoning their cows.

The farmer revealed this to Harmony Times during a telephone interview on Monday evening.

It would be recalled that the farmer was forced to pay N350k after cows grazing on his farm were found dead in February.

He explained that the police had refund his money and also paid the herdsmen for the loss of their cows.

“They’ve returned each party’s money. My money was given back to me and the herdsmen was also paid for their cows.

“We both gave the police some money for their expenditure while investigating the case. From my end, I spent almost N67,000. Undertaken was signed,” he said.
