Igosun Progressive Union President and Former Ilorin NBA Chairman makes SAN list

The incumbent National President of the Igosun Progressive Union in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Chief Rafiu Oyeyemi Balogun has been shortlisted for the prestigious Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Award by the Legal Practitioners and Privileges Committee of Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Oyeyemi Balogun joins 134 other Lawyers across practicing professionals and Academic spheres in the country including 3 other Kwarans, Salman Jawondo, Omotunde Adeola and Abdulrasheed Ijaodola.

Chief Rafiu Balogun at different point in time was the former Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, Secretary NBA Ilorin chapter and National Legal Adviser of the Nigeria Bar Association.

As NBA Chairman, he initiated the reconstruction of the NBA house in Ilorin, secured a 14- seater bus for the branch, among many other achievements.

He is a member of the pioneering set of the University of Ilorin’s Faculty of Law in the 1993/1994 academic session. He was the first Public Relations officer of the Law Student’s Society, University of Ilorin and became the Second President of the same society.

Having bagged his law degree in 1999 from the University of Ilorin and subsequently called to the Bar in 2001, Rafiu Balogun spent about 7 years under the tutelage of Yusuf Olaolu Alli, SAN and thereafter, established his own chamber, R.O. Balogun & co.

He has a Master of Law degree and a PhD candidate at the Obafemi Awolowo University.

Rafiu Oyeyemi Balogun is a recipient of several awards and recognition from different organizations including, Nigeria Bar Association, Nigeria Institute of Management, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators, National Association of Kwara State Students and Law Student’s Society.

He was elected as 1st Vice President of the Igosun Progressive Union in 2016 and currently serves as the President of the Union.

Chief Rafiu Balogun who is happily married with children, is the Otun Bamofin of Agbamu land and the Atayese of Orun-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
