Rename Kwara State Polytechnic after Late Military Governor – Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina.

The Apex Socio-cultural group of Igbomina people that spreads between Kwara and Osun states, Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina on Thursday appealed to the Kwara State Governor to Immortalize the First Governor of Kwara State, Brigadier General David Lasisi Bamigboye by renaming the Kwara State Polytechnic after the Omuaran-born Military Commander and Politician.

The Appeal came while the leadership of the Sociocultural body led by Elder Timothy Adebayo, FNSE paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday at the Government house in Ilorin.

Governor Abdulrahman who eulogised the late Military General for the great work done on the Ilorin Master plan while he held sway as Governor between 1967 and 1975 said that the Late Igbomina man deserves to be honoured by the State Government for his foresight in developing the first and only Ilorin masterplan that gave birth to the Kwara state Polytechnic and Kwara Hotels among many others.

The Governor who praised the “Can do” spirit of the Igbomina people also revealed that the State Government will be embarking on a new master plan for the state that will cover Kwara South and North.

General David Bamigboye, born December 7, 1940 was the first Governor of Kwara state. He created the Ministry of Education in 1968 with a scholarship board and also established the Kwara State Polytechnic in 1972.
