Investment Promotion Agency passes second reading at the House of Assembly

The Kwara State Investment Promotions Agency bill 2020 was on Wednesday read for the second time at the plenary of the Kwara State House of Assembly alongside with the Public Procurement Amendment bill 2020.

The two bills were forwarded to the House of Assembly by the state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Tuesday after the State Executive Council had approved the establishment of the Kwara State Investment Promotions Agency which will be situated along Fate road, within Ilorin Metropolis.

The leader of the House, Olawoyin Mogaji who presented the bill explained the Public Procurement Bill is expected to ensure transparency in the activities of the Kwara State Investment Promotions Agency. He also described the agency as one that seeks to coordinate domestic and foreign investment promotion activities in the state.

The Speaker of the House, Yakubu Danladi, subsequently directed that the bill be referred to an ad-hoc committee set up by the House to work on them and report back in due time.
