The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari will on Thursday July 22, 2021 hold a mini Durbar in Ilorin, the Capital city of Kwara State. The Mini Durbar so termed, is expected to go alongside the annual traditional homage, otherwise known as Bareke, by the Revered Monarch to the Kwara State Government House.
This much was made known in a news feed by the Personal Assistant to the Emir, Murtala Raheem which reads in part,
“Tomorrow 22nd July 2021
There will be Bareke (Sallah Homage to the Executive Gov of Kwara state) together with mini Dubar Insha Allah.
May Allah Spare us to witness many more years amin.Eid Mubarak friends.”
The Mini Durbar is coming at the heels of the suspension of the annual Durbar by the Kwara State Government barely 12hours to the Traditional Horse riding event. The State Government in a terse statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications had cited “Security concerns” for the postponement of the Durbar that should have held today July 21, 2021.
Also, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, in a statement by its National President, reacted to the postponement by calling for calm among the citizens of Ilorin and also stated that, the safety of lives and property is the primary responsibility of the Government.357
