Foreign investors ignored Kwara and 25 other states in Nigeria in the whole of 2020, a report released by the National Bureau of Statistics has shown.
The capital importation report recently published by the National Bureau of Statistics details the value of fresh investments that flowed into the Nigerian economy in 2020 of which Kwara state was identified as one that attracted zero foreign investment within the calendar year in view.
The other states include, Bauchi, Benue, Bayelsa, Kebbi, Katsina, Kogi among others.
The latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics is a drag on Kwara State as the state had attracted foreign investments in preceding years sidelining 11 other states like Kogi, Plateau, Yobe, Zamfara and Ebonyi that also did not attract foreign investments in the past years.
It is worth noting that according to the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kwara state had recorded a foreign investment of 1.14Billion Dollars in 2019 to keep the state third just behind Lagos and Abuja.
According to The Cable, the report is different from the investment announcement report published by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council which is only based on investment announcements and the authenticity of the investment announcements has not been independently verified by the NIPC.
