An unknown source disclosed that, the Kwara State Government on Monday arrested a popular critic and a stalwart of the opposition People’s Democratic Party in the state, Olusola Olusegun, popularly known as Sholyment.
Mr. Olusola Olusegun was initially invited by the Kwara State Police Command Headquarters at around 11am according to a member of the People’s Democratic Party that wishes to remain anonymous. It was further gathered by unconfirmed sources, that Sholyment was eventually detained by 3pm after he had honored the invitation by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a bid to seek clarity on his arrest and detainment, Harmony Times was reliably informed that he passed the night at the facility of the security agencies and he will be charged to court this morning for an offence that was described as “unknown” by another source that confided in Harmony Times.
While details surrounding his arrest is still largely unknown by the public, an insider within Government circle revealed that his arrest might not be unconnected with what was described as “barrage of fake news” that pervaded the media space just before the Eid il Kabir celebration.
Harmony Times gathered that while reacting to one of the news content on a WhatsApp group, a Government appointee from Kwara South had noted that the purveyors of the news will have sufficient time to explain before the courts.
“The collaboration will lead no where. The author of the jaundice will have sufficient time to explain in court soon. We are collaborating with the people to make life more meaningful for the citizenry.”
“There will be plethora of suits after Sallah for those lackeys to provide flesh for the carcasses they carry around social media platforms.”
In the same vein, the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service in a signed statement by its chairman, Shade Omoniyi, while reacting to one of the news that had gone viral in the social media space had vowed that the Service would do all within it’s limit to seek redress in the court of law.
“The KW-IRS is determined to protect its hard-fought brand and the confidence reposed in it by the taxpayers and would leave no stone unturned to unravel whoever is behind this irresponsible act.”
“The Service is prepared to follow due process in ensuring that anyone involved in producing and or spreading that false and injurious post faces the law.”
It therefore remains unclear if the arrest of Mr. Olusegun Olusola is in connection with the quest to seek justice for what the Kwara State Government has considered as “fake news.”
Mr. Olusegun Olusola is a stalwart of the PDP and a fierce media critic of the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led APC Government in the state.368
