Kwara Utd beat Sunshine Stars in Akure to keep up pressure on Enyimba on top of NPFL table

Kwara United occupy the 2nd spot of the Nigeria Professional Football League table after narrowly defeating Sunshine Stars of Akure 2-1 at the Akure Township Stadium, on Tuesday.

Sadeeq Yusuf netted the opener for the opening goal of the encounter for the hosts in the 50th minutes after a barren draw in the first half.

Substituted Issa Gata restored parity for the visitors four minutes later while Steven Jude’s 85th minute goal helped United to earn three points away from home.

Kumbi Titiloye’s boys now have 18 points in 9 games and are three points adrift league leader, Enyimba International.

With the victory, the Afonja Warriors remain unbeaten in their last 7 matches, scored 7 goals and conceded 3.

Moreover, the Harmony Boys have acquired more points, 8, on the road this season.

United will hope to continue their unbeaten run when they host Dakkada FC next Sunday Sunday the Kwara State Stadium.
