Ohanu’s hattrick shoots Kwara Utd back to winning ways

Kwara United moved slightly up to 6th on the Nigeria Professional Football League table after beating 15th-place Wikki Tourist 3-1 at the Kwara State Stadium in one of the matchday 34 encounters played on Thursday.

Talisman, Michael Ohanu netted an opener for the hosts in the 19th minute of the encounter and consolidated the lead shortly before the referee blew for halftime.

Ohanu put United in comfort zone three minutes after halftime while the visitors responded with a sole goal from Chinude Udeagha in the 59th minute.

Since their 2-0 victory against Enugu Rangers, United have lost their last three matches against Enyimba, Abia Warriors and Warri Wolves, all on the road.

United are 3 points adrift the second, third and fourth-place —Nasarawa United, Kano Pillars and Enyimba respectively— who are all on 58 points.

In other matches played on Thursday, Dakkada thrashed Adamawa United 4-0 while Enyimba held Ifeanyi Ubah to a 1-1 draw.

The Harmony Boys will continue their pursuit for a continental ticket against Heartland FC in Owerri on Sunday.
