The Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA), has comfirmed the receipt of the sum of five million naira from the Olomu-in-council as the council’s contribution towards the construction of the Olomu Council Hall.
This was revealed in a statement by the ODA Spokesman, Olayinka Owolewa on Monday in Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun local government area of Kwara State.
The statement said the ODA Executive received the news of the donation with delight and excitement as it called on all well to do sons and daughters of Omu-Aran to emulate the Olomu-in-council by donating generously to facilitate the quick completion of the project.
“We are very elated to learn of the donation, we are very proud of our fathers, not because they are the ones piloting the affairs of Omu-Aran but because they had led by example.
“This is enough motivation for all of us to come out and make donations towards this project, because developing our town is no mistake” the statement said.
The statement also quoted the President of the ODA Maj Gen Olayemi Lasisi Abidoye (rtd) as describing the Olomu-in-council’s gesture as a great difference from what the Olomu in Council used to be.
Maj Gen Abidoye called on all sons and daughters of Omu-Aran both at home and in diaspora to help mobilise and rally round the ODA so that it can complete the project at the appropriate time.
The project when completed will create an enabling environment for the Olomu-in-council to have a befitting place to hold its council’s meetings.
Apart from the Conference room, the Hall will have an office for the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, and the three ward heads.444
