Flood has displaced over 2500 people from their homes in Jebba and neighbouring communities within Moro Local Government Area with properties worth millions of Naira destroyed in the unfortunate incident
HarmonyTimes reliably gathered that the disaster was as a result of the heavy downpour that besieged the town Thursday midnight until day break.
It should be recalled that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), had sounded notes of warning to some states including Kwara that residents in lowlands would be exposed to flood as from the 6th of September.
In an ‘on the spot’ assessment of the disaster, the Deputy Leader of the house and member representing Eji/Lanwa state constituency, Hon. John Olanrewaju Bello assured the victims that the Kwara state Government under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq would come to their aid and that plans are in top gear to compensate and evacuate the victims.
In her own reaction, the representative of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. A. Adaranbori, urged the people to clear the waterways and keep the drainages clean to prevent future occurrence.151
