PDP bemoans insecurity in ASA LG, tells Abdulrazaq to prioritize governance over APC crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Asa local government area of Kwara State have herated Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq APC-led administration in the state for failing to live up to expectations in the area of infrastructural facelifts as well as providing security for lives and properties of residents in the area.

This was contained in a communique signed by the LG party Chairman, Alh. Busari Folorunso, an elder in the LG., Alhaji Saadudeen Ajelanwa and the LG Assistant Party Secretary, Mallam Momonu Yunus, at the end of the party’s joint stakeholders meeting held on Saturday, in Ilorin the state capital and

The meeting which also recorded attendance of prominent Asa indigenes as well as party stalwarts including elders across the council area deliberated extensively on topical issues bordering on growth and development of Asa local government; the security challenges facing the people of the area and in particular the alarming rate of insecurity in Owode/Onire area were also part of the deliberation of that meeting.

In a copy of communique made available to this medium, the party elders expressed great worry over invasion of the council area by bandits and kidnappers who are now carrying out their lethal operation on broad day light without any hinderances . The party also condemned the recent kidnapping of one Mrs Salamatu Yinusa and Mallam Abdulrahman Ishola where the victims were tortured in a gruesome manner for four days before they were released after payment of #1.4m ransom noting that the security agencies in the state must rise up to their responsibilities .

Some of the resolutions of the Stakeholders reads in part:

a. “The Meeting noted with great concern, the incursion of bandits and kidnappers into the Council area, especially with the recent kidnapping and torturing of Mrs. Salamatu Yunusa and Mallam Abdulrahman Ishola, both were kidnapped in their Sokoto village of Asa LG recently. The victims, had to pay #1.4m ransome before they were released by their abductors after spending four days in captivity. We, however called on the security agencies to rise up to the occasion of protecting the life and property of the people of the area.”

b.” The Meeting decried the insensitivity of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, government in the State, under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman to the spate of security challenges facing the people of the area.”

The party also decried the state of road network in the area especially roads that are vital to economic development of the council area .

“Concerned with the poor conditions of Gamo-Afon-Aboto-Oja Road; Afon-Eyekorin-Ballah-Alapa Road and Odo-Ode-Ikotun Road, including the collapsed culvet at Ago-Oja Community in Asa LGA of the State, where an unsuspecting private car ditched, leaving occupants of the car with varying degrees of injury. The Meeting therefore called on the State government to fix these roads which have affected the socio-economic activities of the area.”

“The stakeholders in their communique urged Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq to concentrate on governance, instead of wasting the State’s resources on APC crisis.

They also expressed grief over the loss of two important elders , Late Alhaji Nurudeen Oloyin , an elder in the party and Alhaji Ganiyu Ominiku Laduba who until his unfortunate death was a Stakeholders in the party .

The PDP stakeholders while commending party members for their steadfastness and believe in the party also reiterated commitment to expand the party based in Asa local government ahead of 2023 general elections.

More than 80 stakeholders and elders registered their presence in the meetings which was presided over by the local government party chairman
